Mens Leather Bag Is Here!A "manbag" is just another kind of quaint name for a leather mens bag. If you think it is something new, then you are wrong. European men have known the virtues of these kinds of bags for well over thirty years. We are not talking about gay men either. These are well educated, heterosexual men of the world, and do you think they care what the rest of the world thinks about their leather bag. Not one little bit! In fact, they embraced the practicalities of a bag just for them all by themselves without any dictates of fashion at least 30 years ago. But what a conundrum, one can hardly say that the French, Italians and Poles are in any way lagging in the fashion stakes, or that their masculinity is in any way being compromised. Even in the UK it is very normal to see a leather mens bag perched happily on the shoulder of your businessman or young trendy. However, it is not until these esteemed European brother's of ours visit the United States that they can run into a spot of bother. The mens bag is not a good look there, that is unless you adorn it with sequins and bright colors and hang out in the rainbow communities. It seems to be slow to change there, the Yankee boys consider anything in between a rucksack and a briefcase too close to a woman's handbag. But, just what do they do with their keys, and their wallet, iPod, mobile phone...... Don't they know that pockets stuffed full of these things really ruins the line of the trousers, especially of well fitting jeans.
The mens leather bag has been in Australia for at least 20 years now. How do I know this - just a little insider knowledge. My best mate Stan brought his cute little leather bag with him when he arrived from Poland at least that many years ago. Can you imagine the first time that he ventured out into Aussie society carrying his manbag. Now these are really blokey blokes that live down there, tough and at that time very rough around the edges. They would have been speechless initially, and then Stan would have been treated with great scepticism and been the butt of many Aussie jokes. The fact that Stan is head and shoulders above many men with anything but a feminine air didn't help him. He carried a girly bag, and blokes just didn't do that kind of thing. Well Stan survived with his leather mens bag, he wasn't about to fill his pockets like the others. He spent many years searching in crowds to see if he could spot a fellow manbag lover, but finally gave up when he realised that he really didn't care. Let them stuff their trouser pockets he said to himself and be uncomfortable to boot. Times have changed downunder, and it is now OK for men to wear their leather bags, in fact in most places it won't even raise an eyebrow. Seems that this is one thing that the British and her colonies agree on, or maybe it is all because of Stan. Women have had sole dominion over leather bags for only a very short time in history, but long enough for them to be branded as their sole domain. But women don't care if men start wearing leather bags. In fact most will be absolutely delighted. Have you ever stopped to think just what takes up a lot of room in a womans bag? Guess...... his wallet, his iPod, his cell phone, his cigarettes, his lighter.......... In fact, her bag becomes "their" bag full of everything he thinks he may need when away from home. Yep, men's leather bags are such a cool idea. |
